Nice contrasting prooflike fields set against frosted coated devices. The clear deep reflective fields in this coin are very close to DMPL status. This 1880/79-O is in the Top 100 Morgan Dollar Varieties with this one being the Vam 4 micro O. The crossbar of the 7 is noticable in the top loop of the second 8 with the remnant of the 9 barely seen within the loop of the 0. With mirrored fields the 1880/79-O is very elusive with MS64 being the highest grade given for this overdate in both PL and DMPL. PCGS population reports on 1/1/06 show 12 in MS64PL with only 4 in MS64DMPL. Wayne Miller stated that the Superior hoard contained a few hundred deep-mirror cameo 1880-O dollars. Most of these were of the VAM 4 variety. Purchased from the Bowers and Merena Baltimore Auction Session Two on 12/5/05 Lot # 2161
