Owner Comments:

The 1869 business strike is a fairly scarce item, even though 795,900 pieces were produced. Only 600 proofs were struck, and this was the final year for reduced proof Half Dollar mintages that commenced in 1862. This is a brightly reflective example with good cameo contrast that shows just a bit of light, hazy gray-rose patina on each side with no distracting contact marks
