Owner Comments:

Close to 67 quality. Amazing darker multicolored toning, with luster that cuts right through, and hardly any marks. No photos can truly capture how awesome looking this coin is, and it definitely deserves a star. However, it is my opinion that only half the star slabs I see actually have a coin that deserves a star. And of course there are more than a few coins that deserve stars where the graders must have been asleep at the wheel. Not to mention all the star coins trapped in PCGS holders where the owners like me don't dare to crack them out of the holders because they will generally sell for less in an NGC holder, even with a star. Buy the coin, and not the grade on the holder, as the saying goes. There's a lot of dogs out there in high grade holders, and conversely a lot of neglected beauties that are ignored because the coin is only a 64 or 65. The old days before the certification services weren't a utopia, but they forced people to more closely consider the quality of the coin. Now people often pay attention to what a grading service tells us the coin should be. What would you rather own, a bunch of high grade slabs with ugly or boring looking coins, or beauties with a lower market grade? Remember, the grading services provide an opinion of the coin's grade (which let's face it, is a moving target) and whether the coin has been fooled with overly much.
