Fourth release of the new American Liberty Gold High Relief series.
Produced at the West Point Mint, the obverse (heads) of this 24-karat gold coin features a profile of Liberty wearing a crown of stars and the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “1792", 2017,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The reverse (tails) depicts a bold and powerful eagle in flight, with its eyes toward opportunity and a determination to attain it. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD,” and “100 DOLLARS.”

The 2017 American Liberty High Relief $100.00 Gold coin was released by the US Mint on April 6, 2017. The release day price was $1,640.00; the price of gold was $1,251.59. Fast forward to April 16, 2020 and the US Mint list price shot up to $2,440.00 as gold had sky rocketed upward. On August 5th, 2020 the US Mint raised the price to $2,690.00. With the restructuring of the US Mint price grid on May 13th, 2021 the list price went to $2,815.00. As gold had soared upward in April of 2023 the new record high price has now reached $2,965.00. A $1,325.00 increase since the coin was released on April 6, 2017.
Unprecedented is the decision the US Mint has made to have a coin in production and available for purchase on their web site for nearly 7 years as of this update. Sales are currently about 1 per day and it just may be time for the US Mint to dedicate future 1oz gold blanks to a new gold masterpiece. After all the Key Date 2020 W Gold Buffalo Proof was only available for 6 months.
Enthusiasm for this fourth new High Relief in the series dropped taking nearly seven years to bring total sales as of March 17, 2024 to 39,197 coins sold.
