Owner Comments:
The 1986 gold $5 coin commemorates the Statue of Liberty. There were 95,248 uncirculated and 404,013 proof coins produced by the West Point Mint. The coin's obverse features a close-up view of the Statue of Liberty's face. The coin's reverse shows an image of a bald eagle in flight. This was a very popular coin series. Surcharges from the coin's sale were used to fund the statute's restoration project. These coins are very easy to find in perfect MS70 and PF70 graded condition.
