Owner Comments:

1899 was the last year of the 19th Century and also the year this coin was produced in Philadelphia.This Liberty Head Five Cent piece was graded MS-64 by NGC and still retains much of it’s original mint luster which accounts for it’s nice eye appeal.
William McKinley was the 25th President of the United States when this coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint.He was serving his first term as President and would later be assassinated early in his second term.
On February 6,1899 the United States annexes Guam,the Philippines and Puerto Rico.This came about after the United States defeated Spain in the Spanish American War of 1898.
