This special matte-finish Kennedy half dollar was issued only in the "Kennedy Collector's Set" with a commemorative RFK silver dollar. It was released in 1998 to recognize Bobby's assassination 30 years prior.

It's finish is unique among all other Kennedy half dollars, and it has the lowest mintage making it a collector's favorite.

NGC scores the 1998S SP Kennedy half-dollar and 1994P/1997P Jefferson nickels inconsistency between the non-proof, proof, and combined type sets. Although I do not agree with them, it is a nice change of pace to see this special finish included in the competition.
