Owner Comments:

Circulation-strike mintage 608,000

The areas of interest (as discussed in the introduction to this registry set) on this circulated Walking Liberty show the barest traces of wear (the highest points of the design appear slightly rounded and there is slight loss of sharpness) -- this is to be expected on the highest points on the design's obverse and reverse as the coin is handled in circulation. This example has almost full luster and one very small detracting mark on the reverse, with VERY attractive eye appeal.

Liberty Walking half dollars were released into circulation following the Treasury Department announcement on January 17,1917.

This year's coins have particularly flat rims which frames the design elements attractively. Of the mint state coins I examined for possible purchase, most had excellent eye appeal and a satiny or matte finish.
