NGC US Coin Census for Buffalo Five Cents (1913-1938)

Owner Comments:

'In 1913 the nickel design was changed to what we now call the Buffalo Nickel, during the first year the words Five Cents was depicted on a mound at the bottom of the reverse, it was determined that the words would wear away rapidly so the Chief Engraver "Charles Barber" made changes including placing the words "Five Cents" on the bottom of the Reverse in a recessed area. This revision became known as type 2, with the former being type 1. This Gem plus example has great eye appeal with nice color, great strike, and a satiny luster.
