OBVERSE: Right-Facing profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with the artists initials located in the extreme lower right shoulder of the effigy. The Monarch, year of issue, country of issue, and triskelion’s are displayed around the rim. Denticles extend from the bottom of the rim and continue around the entire circumference of the coin. This is the first coin in the series on which the Ian Rank Broadley designed effigy was used. In 2017 the I.R.B design was replaced by the 5th effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II designed by Jody Collins. The IRB effigy replaced the Raphael Maklouf Portrait which was in use from 1985 to 1997, and appears on the first coin of the series.

REVERSE: Archangel Michael slaying the dragon. The small coat of arms of The Isle of Man is located directly above the halo with a Viking knit motif embellishment emerging from behind it and continuing around the entire circumference of the coin. The metal, fineness, weight and denomination of the coin are displayed at the bottom, below the dragon. To the right enrobed by the dragon’s flames is the privy mark “15”, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Silver Angel. Also below the dragon at 8 o'clock are the initials "PM" for Pobjoy Mint. This design positions the Archangel Michael right hand facing with the dragon's head to the left side of the Archangel Michael, his spear in his right hand and the shield in his left.

NOTES: This is the first coin in the series to have a privy mark. The design of the reverse was altered to accommodate the privy mark, the angel was repositioned more to the center left of the reverse, his shield drawn in more towards his torso and the right arm holding the spear is in an underhand position. The dragon’s tail is no longer coiled around the angel’s right leg and the head was turned to the right so as to be pointed upward and not towards the angel and his shield. These changes made room for the privy mark to be placed in the dragon’s flames. The design alterations give the scene a much less dramatic appearance, the changes make it seem as if the dragon did not put up a fight, as if he never saw his opponent or had a chance to attack or defend.

The reverse design would be altered again in 2017 reversing some of the alterations made in 2010, giving the scene a more impactful appearance again, similar to the original 1995 design. The 2017 design has the angel thrusting his spear in an overhand motion, tilts the dragon’s head back toward the angel and has the dragon grabbing the shaft of the spear.
