Owner Comments:

Three commemorative dollars were released in 1997. The second silver dollar issued was to honor baseball great Jackie Robinson on the 50th anniversary of his start as the first black player in a major league baseball game. The obverse of the coin features an image of Jackie Robinson sliding into home plate. The reverse features the logo of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and inscriptions that read “Rookie of the Year 1947” and “Hall of Fame 1962.”

There were 30,180 uncirculated and 110,002 proof coins, all produced by the San Francisco Mint. The uncirculated MS70 and the proof PF70 dollar coins are difficult to find. This is a very popular coin in the Modern Commemorative era.
