Mintage 8,495,008
Minted at West Point without mintmark

Quite honestly, I see nothing that detracts from the beauty of this MS-70 coin. It's a sharply detailed specimen on the obverse and reverse with blast white detail on all the prime focal spots. With a excellent sharp strike, original mint luster, as well as no spots, hairlines, hits, scuff marks or other defects, it is a prime example of American Silver Eagle in MS-70 condition.

Numismatic News: Silver bullion price climbed through 2003, approaching $6/ounce in the fourth quarter. Platinum had a noteworthy year jumping $150/ounce !

Quality strike bullion American Silver Eagles continued being produced at the West Point Mint, with approximately 70% grading MS 69 or better. NGC had graded 2719 examples MS 70, which made purchase of this "perfect coin" affordable at less than $200 per coin.

A few limited edition holders were signed by Private First Class Jessica Lynch (the first American POW successfully rescued since WWII) and cycling legend Lance Armstrong. One holder was signed by General Tommy Franks.

2003 Average Silver Price: $4.37/ounce
