Owner Comments:
Coined during the peak of America's wartime production, the 1943(P) half dollar had the highest mintage of this series. In fact, another 20 years would pass before this record for a single mint was exceeded. Gems are plentiful through MS-67, but collectors should still exercise discretion in selecting a coin that was well struck from fresh dies.
Most 1943 half dollars from all three mints display similar obverse doubling, and this was likely the result of a doubled working hub or even a doubled master die. This leads to the submission of many 1943-dated half dollars for variety attribution, but such doubling is not acknowledged by NGC due to its commonness.
