In 2019, a second commemorative half dollar was issued to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion. It was the 26th half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 2019-D half dollar features two children, with hands over their hearts, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The reverse features a waving U.S. flag and a continuation of the Pledge: "...of the United States of America."

These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel.
