Owner Comments:
In 2019, a second commemorative $5 gold coin was issued, this one to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The American Legion and its founding on March 15, 1919, in Paris, France.
The obverse of the coin features the letter "V" (for Victory) superimposed on the Eiffel Tower. The reverse features an eagle soaring from the coin's 4 o'clock position with the American Legion logo opposite at the 10 o'clock position.
Both the mint state and proof coins were produced at the West Point Mint. Mintage numbers for this coin series appear really low. A January 2020 magazine report reported sales of the MS coin at 2,929 (potentially the lowest in the Modern era to date).
