The Winged Liberty dime signifying freedom of thought was quickly nicknamed "Mercury" due to the obvious resemblance to the Roman god. Its Neo-Renaissance design was very suitable to the coin beautification initiative and remains a favorite to this day. The mint started making palladium bullion coins featuring this same obverse design in 2017.
