NGC US Coin Census for Kennedy Half Dollars (1964-Date)

Owner Comments:

The silver Kennedy half has a bit of history by itself. Of course, 1964 was the first and last year of the 90% silver Kennedy proof that was issued in a regular annual proof set. Since then, proof versions have been struck at the San Francisco Mint since the introduction of the Silver Proof Set in 1992.

A 1998-S silver matte proof was issued in a special "Kennedy Set" with a commemorative silver dollar featuring JFK's brother, Robert F. Kennedy.

On the 50th Anniversary of the Kennedy half dollar, a special "high-relief" series was produced featuring 4 different silver strikes:
1) 2014 P Ultra Cameo Proof
2) 2014 D Burnished
3) 2014 S Enhanced Proof
4) 2014 W Reverse Proof
Additionally the series contains one gold and two clad coins.

In 2018, the San Francisco Mint also produced a special "Silver Reverse Proof Set" which included a Kennedy half-dollar.

Starting in 2019, the mint changed the composition of silver coins from .900 to .999.

This beauty is a high relief Anniversary Edition proof.
