Owner Comments:

Three $5 gold commemorative coins were released in 1995. Two commemorative $5 coins were issued for the upcoming 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The first of these Olympic coins featured an Olympic torch runner on the obverse of the coin. The reverse features an eagle with a ribbon in its beak that reads "1896-1996."

There were 14,675 uncirculated and 57,442 proof coins minted by the West Point Mint. The gold coins issued for the Atlanta Olympics are among the lowest of all minted commemoratives. These coins are moderately difficult to find in perfect MS70 condition (a little more than 750 graded in MS70, more than twice as many as those in MS69 condition) and in PF70 condition (over 620 graded in PF70, almost half of those graded in PF69 condition).
