This 1890-O prooflike matches the description given by George Mallis and Leroy Van Allen in their book Comprehensive Catalog And Encyclopedia Of Morgan And Peace Dollars - "Proof-likes are fairly available and usually have good contrast. However, the strike is often weak."

I have attributed this coin as VAM5 (doubled 9 in date).

The strike is above average for the New Orleans issues of the 1890s. There is some weakness in the hair over the ear. On the reverse, the eagle's brast and talons are not fully struck and there is weakness on the leaf on the wreath above the E in "One" and the leaf above the R in "Dollar".
