Owner Comments:

In 1996, two commemorative half dollars were issued to honor the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The second coin was the 1996 Olympic Soccer Half Dollar. It was the 14th half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 1996-S half dollar shows two women playing soccer. The reverse of the coin features the symbol for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. There were 112,412 proof coins produced (twice the amount of the uncirculated coins). These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. The 1996-S half is very difficult to find in perfect PF70 graded condition. This is a key coin in the series.
