Owner Comments:

During 1995, two commemorative half dollars were issued in advance of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The second coin was the Centennial Olympics half dollar honoring Men's Baseball. It was the 12th half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 1995-S half dollar features an iconic scene of a batter, catcher, and umpire. The reverse of the coin features a world map and the symbol for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. There were 118,087 proof coins minted (a lower quantity than the uncirculated coin, which is rare for modern commemoratives). These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. This 1995-S proof half is a key coin in any collection of Modern Commemorative half dollars and is somewhat difficult to find in perfect PF70 graded condition.
