"Gateway to Discovery" -- a Spanish galleon sails the ocean, opposed by an image of the Space Shuttle. A Sabal palmetto (the state tree) is also featured on the reverse of this coin.

Florida was admitted as the 27th U.S. state in 1845. There was a mintage of 1,769,786 proof coins (highest mintage in the 50 State Quarter series).
