Three commemorative dollars were issued in 1993. The first dollar was issued to commemorate President James Madison. The obverse of the coin features a right profile bust of James Madison, the "Father of the Bill of Rights." The reverse of the coin shows a view of Madison's Virginia home (Montpelier). There were 98,383 uncirculated coins produced by the Denver Mint. The San Francisco Mint produced 534,001 proof coins, which are difficult to source in perfect PF70 condition.
