Owner Comments:
In 2014, the $5 gold commemorative coin was issued to honor the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. It was one of the most popular releases in the "Modern Commemorative" era. This coin was an exciting release because it was struck in a unique domed or concave/convex shape. The obverse features an open baseball glove with the word "Liberty" in its pocket. The reverse is a beautiful, almost 3-D, presented image of a baseball with the inscription “United States of America.”
There were 17,677 uncirculated coins and 32,427 proof coins minted by the West Point Mint. Perfect MS70 (over 1,150 graded) and PF70 graded coins (over 1,660 graded) are quite easy to find.
