ex. S.S. Republic. There are 55 1855-S double eagles from the S.S. Republic shown in the NGC population census with 18 of those in AU58 and only a single coin graded higher at MS61 from the S.S. Republic. This well struck butter-gold example has pleasing luster and is without any noticeable marks. This coin with CAC approval is undoubtedly one the nicest from the shipwreck.
