Owner Comments:
In 2014, a commemorative half dollar was issued to honor the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. It was the 20th half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. This coin was an exciting release because it was struck in a unique domed or concave/convex shape (although the authorizing legislation did not require this). The obverse of the 2014-S half dollar features an open baseball glove with the word "Liberty" on its pocket. The reverse is a beautifully presented image of a baseball with the inscription “United States of America.”
There were 249,049 proof coins produced. These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. The 2014-S half is common to find in perfect MS70 graded condition.
