A mere 5,000 business strikes were produced of this issue with 886 proofs minted. This is one of the most extraordinary proofs we have ever seen from the highly collectible decade of the 1880s. The devices are snow-white and cast a strong contrast against the deeply reflective "blackness" of the proof fields. Brilliant throughout, the striking details are fully defined in all areas (not all proofs from this decade are), and there are no obvious or distracting blemishes on either side.
