NGC US Coin Census for Silver Eagles (1986-Date)

Owner Comments:

The 1987 Silver Eagle is the 2nd coin of the series. This year saw a huge surge in mintage compared to the 1986 release. In fact, 1987 is by far the most common Silver Eagle of the 1980's with a mintage of over 11.4 million pieces, more than double that of any other year, and a number not eclipsed until 2008. The high mintage number has not helped increase the number of MS70's that NGC has graded however. Only 0.48% of 1987 Silver Eagles submitted have been awarded the grade of MS70.
