Owner Comments:
Three commemorative dollars were released in 1997. The first silver dollar issued was the Botanic Garden Silver Dollar, in honor of its 165th anniversary (two years earlier). The obverse of the coin features the front facade of the Botanic Garden building. The reverse features a single rose halfway encircled by a garland of roses. This coin's design is not particularly appealing to me.
There were 58,505 uncirculated and 189,671 proof coins, all produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The uncirculated dollar is easy to find in MS70 condition, but the PF70 dollar is fairly rare.
