Owner Comments:
Five commemorative dollars were released in 1994. The fifth dollar released was issued to raise funds for the Women in Military Service Memorial and a new memorial complex for women who served in the military (opened 1997). The obverse of the coin features a view of five women, meant to represent those serving in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. The reverse features a view of the planned memorial complex in Arlington, Virginia. There were 69,860 uncirculated coins produced by the West Point Mint, and 241,278 proof coins produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The uncirculated dollars are abundant in MS70 condition. The Philadelphia Mint proof dollars are extremely difficult to find in perfect PF70 condition.
