Owner Comments:

Five commemorative dollars were released in 1994. The third dollar issued honors America's Prisoners of War. The obverse of the coin features an image of an eagle in flight, encircled by barbed wire, and flying towards freedom. The reverse features an image of the proposed National Prisoner of War Museum (which is in Andersonville, Georgia and was opened in 1998). There were 54,893 uncirculated coins produced by the West Point Mint, and 224,449 proof coins produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The uncirculated dollars are easy to find in MS70 condition. The Philadelphia Mint proof dollars are extremely difficult to find in perfect PF70 condition.
