In 2015, a commemorative half dollar was issued to honor the 225th Anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service. This was the 21st half dollar minted in the "Modern Commemorative" era. The obverse of the 2015-D half dollar features an image of an old west U.S. Marshal standing opposite of a modern-day female officer. The reverse is "Lady Justice" holding the scales of justice, with an image of the United States Constitution, some school books, an unlocked pair of handcuffs, and a whiskey jug.
There were 38,149 uncirculated coins produced. These half dollars are made from 92% copper and 8% nickel. The 2015-D half is difficult to find in perfect MS70 graded condition.
