Owner Comments:
The first 90.0% silver U.S. coin since 1964.
This 1982-D half dollar commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the birth of George Washington. It features, on the obverse, an image of a youngish looking George Washington in military garb atop his horse. A depiction of Mount Vernon, Washington's home, appears on the reverse. There were 2,210,458 MS coins minted. I purchased my first NGC graded Washington Commemorative half in 2014 (in MS65) after I realized that I would have a very difficult time trying to piece together a collection of all the Classic Commemorative half dollars (1892-1954). These Washington Commemoratives are quite easy to find. Over the past six years, I have picked up over 190 of them (most in the original mint presentation box).
Ebay auction purchase, 04/18/2015, $19.
