Owner Comments:

I purchased this present example because the strike is amazing and very nearly full. Except for one tiny tick the fields are butter smooth and the luster is simply blazing and it really pops----even more so than the image suggests. This is a pure white premium gem. This coin is in an older NGC #7 slab. I seem to find some very nice coins in those old number sevens and I've had a lot of good luck with them.

The 1944-D has VERY similar characteristics to the 1943-D coin. Strike ranges from soft to almost full with the average example falling somewhere in the middle. Usually bright and frosty. Usually just minimally to moderately abraded and WHITE. Richly toned coins command a premium but they do exist. Fully struck gems are pretty rare.

Mintage is at 9,769,000.
