Owner Comments:

This is my first of two "Grail" coins for the Jefferson War Nickel Series. When I bought the coin, the NGC pop was 1 for several years...now 3. Superb luster and more white on obverse, more golden on reverse. I am incredibly lucky to have this beautiful coin. If I understand the scale correctly, the 1943/2-P overstrike is the 3rd rarest for the Jefferson War Nickel Series. It was produced when the 1942 master die was re-punched with 1943, thus leaving some residual traces of the number 2 showing in the 3. I have read it was not discovered until 1977.
