Owner Comments:

The 1943-D is the third overall rarest Walker and the second rarest Denver coin (1942-D is the rarest) in the short set . It has usually got good luster and is quite frosty. Surface abrasions are a problem as most are at least moderately abraded. It usually comes white and brilliant but moderately to heavier toned examples exist but they are in the minority. Strike varies WIDELY but is normally a little soft in the central high points.

I bought this current example purely because of the strike----it is VERY sharp for the issue in all areas. Surfaces are mostly smooth and it is a brilliant white coin with good luster. I see some die polish marks in the field and the coin is almost proof-like in nature.

As of 09/2016, NGC Census is 1370/330 and PCGS Population is 1713/350 in MS 66.

Mintage is at 11,346,000.
