Seller Description:
1889-S $1 MS66 PCGS. Population: 89 in 66 (9 in 66+), 1 finer (6/16). Ex: The Michigan Collection. This radiant Premium Gem has fully brilliant silver surfaces with sharp design features and only the faintest traces of dusty gold toning. Of all of the Morgan dollars produced between the years of 1878 and 1921, from five different mints, only 18 issues had mintages of less than one million coins, and this 1889-S is one of those. In fact, the mintage of 700,000 coins places this in the 15th position among the lowest-mintage Morgans. Among the examples certified by PCGS and NGC, just one coin has been certified finer. Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 8659; The Motor City Collection / FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 5481. From The Bowler Collection of Morgan Dollars. (Registry values: P6, N2998) (NGC ID# 255B, PCGS# 7194).
