The 2016 panda coins were only struck in BU quality. Varieties exist from the Shenzhen and Shanghai Mints. The Shenzhen Mint coin has a very thick frosting on the Temple of Heaven; whereas, the Shanghai Mint coin has a clearer frosting on the Temple. Edge design – slant reeded. The Chinese Mint added the fineness and weight back on the coin which was removed in 2015. Also, the weight of the coin is stamped “30g” whereas in previous years it was stamped “1oz”. I guess we will be losing a gram from this point forward.
