Owner Comments:

There is little doubt that the brief history of the Carson City Mint has gained the attention and desire of a large number of collectors and numismatists. The Mint only operated from 1870 to 1893, with these operations shutdown during 1886, 1887, and 1888. Thus the entire history of this Mint spanned just 21 years of operation. By comparison with most other branch mints, the number of coins struck in Carson City was small. Just 56 million coins were minted in Nevada during the entire history of the Mint. Only Charlotte and Dahlonega produced smaller total quantities (less than 2 million coins each over a period of 24 years at those facilities).
