Early Releases designation. New label on this year's coin...Like it.
The reverse of this penny features the Union Shield. It is symbolic of President Lincoln’s preservation of the United States as a single and united country. The Union Shield features thirteen stripes and the inscription “E Pluribus Unum” (Out of many, one), symbolizing the original thirteen states joined together in a single union.
