Owner Comments:

This issue is usually softly struck in the center, especially the thumb. The luster is typically good for this issue, either frosty or satiny. This coin's surfaces tend to be more abraded than the typical short set coin such as the 1942 P.
Many examples are brilliant white but lightly toned golden and also elaborately toned peripheral pieces exist.

This present example looks like a superb gem to me. The strike is about as sharp as they get in all areas. The luster is booming and the surfaces are pristine without a single mark or line. It is pure white, too.

Number one in overall mint state rarity for the short set and number five in high grade (MS 65 or better) rarity. The rarest Denver coin in the short set, also. Tough to find nice in MS 66 grade and an absolute rarity any finer.

Mintage is at 10,973,800
