Owner Comments:

Far better in hand than in the photo. The photo makes the head look rubbed but in hand there is no break in the luster. A key date in the Liberty Standing along with the 1918/7 S. This 1916 has every rivet clear and a full shield also a very strong date (which can be flattened); an excellent strike. Not dipped (not recently, anyway) with nice original surfaces. Not many 1916 FH in high grade likely due to the release late in 1916 and early 1917. The release was almost simultaneous with the 1917 type I coins. So collectors saving the "first year of issue" for the new quarter got 1916 and 1917 concurrently. It must have been difficult for all but the most informed collectors to have known to grab the 1916 in addition to the 1917. I have always found it odd that some coins live or die financially on the strike (SLQ, Winged Liberty (Mercury) dimes, Jefferson nickels, but less so on the Lincoln cents or the V Barber nickels)
