C-3, B-3, R.3, Ex: Hilt Collection, Manley Die State 1, as always, the C-3 die marriage pairs the C-2 reverse with the C-4 obverse. This example is struck on a planchet made from sheet copper, with a couple minor laminations evident at 1 and 4 o'clock on the obverse. The strike is evenly executed, with well-defined design elements that retain pleasing detail for the grade. The appeal is exceptional for an example of this first year copper issue, which is typically seen with minor to extensive corrosion.
