Small Date JR-1,R.3. The sole small date among the five 1814 varieties. One can distinguish between the small date and large date obverses merely by checking the size of the 8 in the date. The reverse shows the bottom - left serif of the last S in STATES between the US in PLURIBUS. Signs of die clashing appear below the buston the obverse and above the eagle on the reverse. Neither the obverse or reverse die was reused in the dime series. The POP is 10 in 64 with 5 higher.
