Owner Comments:

The New York quarter was released on January 2, 2001, as the 11th coin released in the 50 State Quarter Program and the first released in 2001. New York, admitted into the Union on July 26, 1788, themed the coin, Gateway to Freedom. It highlighted an image of the Statue of Liberty, the state outline, and 11 stars that represents its position when admitted into the Union. The coin is inscribed: Gateway to Freedom; New York; 1788; 2001; and E Pluribus Unum.
