Owner Comments:

O.102 R2. Per cataloger, "Large 9, O-102, R.2, MS66 NGC. Dr. Peterson's "Timber Ts" variety, named after the wedge-shaped defect on the base of the Ts in the reverse legend. The present piece originates in the Suros Collection and ranks atop the Herrman listing for Overton-102, along with the Eliasberg/Kaufman example offered by Heritage in our 2009 Central States Signature. Dr. Suros owned an extensive collection of overdated Federal coinage, often in the finest obtainable condition. This well struck and lustrous piece offers rich golden-brown centers framed by jade-green margins. Marks are confined to a tick or two on Liberty's neck. Ex: Dr. Juan XII Suros Collection (Superior, 2/1999), lot 183." Obtained from Heritage Longbeach Auction #1206 on June 5, 2014, Lot 4515.
