Owner Comments:

Lyman Allen #4.08 (KM #164) - 5 Centavos - Mintage: 2,780,000

This is the "normal" date 1918S 5 Centavos, which if you check the NGC population reports, is significantly harder to obtain than the much higher profile muled variety! High grade examples of the 1918S are quite rare. NGC has graded none above MS63 and PCGS has graded eight at MS64 with none finer. This is as good as it gets!

This coin appears to have either been struck on a flawed planchet or struck through some foreign material. This is most notable in the upper left quadrant on the obverse.

Allen Varieties
4.08 - Normal die pair (this coin)
4.08a - Re-punched date
4.08aa - S/S Re-punched mint mark
4.08b - 5 Centavo reverse muled with 20 Centavo obverse

Date acquired: 5/1/2014 (already graded by PCGS)
