There was no 1oz silver panda made in 1986. The 1987 panda was minted in proof quality only. The coin specifications changed significantly during this year. It included 31.1 grams of sterling silver (0.925 fineness) and an increase in the diameter to 40mm. The coin also did NOT rotate the reverse side of the coin 180 degrees from the obverse side as was done in the first 3 years. The non-rotation of the obverse and reverse has remained this way ever since 1987.
Mintage was 31,000.
