Scarce High-Grade Example 1898-S $1 MS66 NGC. Exceptional mint luster flashes from the brilliant, snow-white surfaces of this impressive Premium Gem dollar. Generally sharp, if a tad weak on the hair detail just above Liberty's ear, this piece displays stellar preservation on both sides. Despite a substantial mintage of 4.1 million coins, this issue is surprisingly scarce at higher Mint State grade levels. Census: 11 in 66, 1 finer (3/14). From the M L Moser Collection, #1 NGC Morgan Dollar Registry Set. (Registry values: P5, N2998) (NGC ID# 256A, PCGS# 7256).
