Owner Comments:
The 1850-D gold dollar is often found poorly struck, and the above example is no exception. The hair above Ms. Liberty's forehead shows no detail, and it was probably pretty much like that on the day this coin was stuck. The reverse lettering is also mushy which indicates that this was probably the among last coins struck from this set of dies. The coin does show a fair amount of luster in the protected areas which indicates that the EF-45 grade is correct. If the coin had been better struck it might have made AU-50. The holder has a green CAC sticker.
